Rail Budget well-intentioned; but implementation stretegy yet to be seen: Vimal Kejriwal, KEC
In a chat with ET Now, Vimal Kejriwal, MD & CEO (Designate), KEC, shares his views on this year's Rail Budget. Excerpts:

ET Now: What has been your first reaction to the Rail Budget?

Vimal Kejriwal: It is a well-intentioned budget. But the strategy for implementation is yet to be seen.

As far as a company like KEC is concerned, we are very happy with the Rs 8.5 lakh crore of capex which has been budgeted. We are especially happy about the 20% hike in new railway lines.

We also like the proposal for electrification of 6600 km of railway lines during the year.

As far as funding is concerned, the government has talked about forming SPVs. They have also sounded out their intention of going to multilaterals and revamping PPP model.

These things could probably give them something on the funding side.
