Not expecting any respite from heat in North India till June end: KJ Ramesh, DG, IMD
Do not expect any respite from the heat wave if you are in North India, KJ Ramesh, DG, IMD, told ET Now.

Edited Excerpts:
Are you looking to revise the forecast?
Yes, we have already revised it upwards. Now the seasonally quantum is assessed at 98% with plus minus 4% as against the 96% plus minus 6% during 18th April and that has precisely happened because of improved prospects of week El Nino developing during the latter part of the year. This was indicated in our bulletin on 18th April and internationally our assessment has been substantiated by other agencies.
As far as the distribution is concerned, which are the areas that are likely to receive more rainfall?
Central India is expected to receive 100% rainfall while peninsular India to get 99%; northwest India and northeast India would receive 96% of the rain.
Have you heard so far on the sowing season how is that looking?
In North India, can we expect relief any time soon?
That is not before the monsoon comes, at least till the end of the month we will have to bear with the heat.
