Expect to grow at double digits this year: RC Bhargava, Maruti Suzuki

In a chat with ET Now, RC Bhargava, Chairman, Maruti Suzuki, shares the auto sector’s growth outlook and talks about the discounting trends in the industry. Excerpts:

ET Now: How does the market situation looks like?

RC Bhargava: The market situation, for us, looks better than earlier. As I said yesterday, we expect to grow at double digits this year.

ET Now: What is your view on the discounting trends in the industry?

RC Bhargava: The discounting trends are determined by the overall market conditions. While we are growing at double digits, the rest of the industry is not growing so well and there are companies that are not growing at all. If some players in the market are offering discounts, then the others will have to follow suit.

ET Now: There were troubles brewing on the Rohtak R&D centre. When do you expect to see them solved?

RC Bhargava: The matter is subjudice and I will not comment on that.

ET Now: On the minority shareholder issue, is there anything new that has happened so far?

RC Bhargava: No, we have not yet determined the date of the voting.
