Best Rail Budget India has seen in a long time: LV Raju, Kernex Microsystems

In a chat with ET Now, LV Raju, MD, Kernex Microsystems, talks about the Rail Budget. Excerpts:

ET Now: What is your first takeaway from this year's Rail Budget?

LV Raju: For the first time since Independence, the Railway Minister has given such a detailed vision document. That is a good thing.

Railways is a long-gestation area. It takes a long time to things to happen here. Prabhu identified what the tasks are, and he also said where from he is going to get the resources. He also talked about the organisational reforms.

He also told us about how the ultimate users — the people — are going to get benefited out of that vision. He also talked about how to make rail travel more safe, more comfortable and more enjoyable. He also explained how to bring back traffic to the railways from low-cost airlines.

In fact, it is a wonderful document. The only question mark is over is the will power the government has got. It will boil down to how the government is going to get the funds from. Much will also depend on how the vision is implemented on the ground.

At present, as a document or a footprint, it is a wonderful Rail Budget. It's the best Rail Budget we have seen in a long time.
