Third eye: The sarkar who is in demand

Given the Left Front’s meltdown in Bengal and Kerala, Manik Sarkar powering yet another Left victory in Tripura has come as a relief for CPM. Since Sarkar is now the only big winner on the Left stage, he is in great demand by the Bengal CPM unit, desperately looking for star campaigners for the panchayat polls.

The fact that Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee may not be campaigning widely due to his indisposition and since central party leaders like Prakash Karat and Sitram Yechury lack mass appeal, Sarkar may be attending some party meetings in Bengal.
