SEBI allocates investment limits in Govt debt market

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on Friday allocated investment limits in the government debt market to 14 foreign institutional investors.

MUMBAI: The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) on Friday allocated investment limits in the government debt market to 14 foreign institutional investors (FIIs)/sub-accounts through the open-bidding platform. These entities, which also include Bank of America Singapore, Barclays Bank, BNP Paribas, JP Morgan Chase Bank and Standard Chartered Bank (Mauritius), have bid for around Rs 10,000 crore worth of government bonds on the BSE platform on Friday.

These limits have to be utilised by the allocated entities within 45 days of the allocation. The remaining limit for investment in government debt will be allocated among FIIs on a ���first-come, first-served��� basis, subject to a ceiling of Rs 249 crore per registered entity, a Sebi circular said.
