Deal of the art

A wealthy art collector's haggling over a ₹2 crore painting led to a final price of ₹3 crore, complete with a repainted sky and a smiley face doodle. Meanwhile, world leaders brokered a 'peace, prosperity, and peanuts' treaty after a marathon nego...

An art collector visits a gallery and spots a painting priced at ₹2 cr. He says, 'I'll give you ₹10 lakh.' The dealer replies, 'Impossible, this is a masterpiece!'

Collector: ₹20 lakh. But you throw in the frame.

Dealer: No can do. The frame alone is worth ₹5 lakh!

Collector [sighs]: Alright, ₹50 lakh, but I want the artist to repaint the sky in a slightly happier shade of blue.

The dealer agrees, but the artist refuses: I only negotiate with clouds.

After weeks of back and forth, the collector ends up paying ₹3 cr for the same painting, now with a tiny doodle of a smiley face in the corner.

Moral: In negotiation, you don't always get what you want - but you always get charged for negotiating.

Win-Win and a Win

World leaders gather to negotiate peace. One insists on a ceasefire, another demands sanctions relief, and a third just wants the minibar restocked. After 12 hrs, they sign a treaty promising 'peace, prosperity and peanuts'.

The war resumes immediately, but the minibar is, indeed, restocked. Which is why it's declared a win-win-win.
