UAE hails role of Indian diaspora in economic growth

The UAE government has hailed the role of the Indian community living and working in the region and said they were contributing to the economic growth there.

DUBAI: The UAE government has hailed the role of the Indian community living and working in the region and said they were contributing to the economic growth there.

The reason for strong India-UAE relations is because the Indian community living and working in the country enjoys respect and are contributing to the building of the local community, UAE Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan said yesterday.

He said they were especially making a contribution to the economic and trade fields in the UAE.

The Minister was speaking at a dinner banquet at his palace hosted in honour of Rajan Bharti Mittal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Bharti Telecom.

Mittal was part of an Indian delegation led by Minister of Commerce, Industry and Textiles, Anand Sharma, which took part in the inaugural meeting of the UAE-India High Level Task Force on Investments here.
