What is the UAE remote work visa?
The UAE Remote Work Visa is offered to foreign nationals who are employed by a non-UAE company and can perform their job duties remotely. It enables these individuals to reside in the UAE for one year while continuing their overseas employment. The visa also provides access to UAE services such as telecommunications, schooling, and housing rentals.
The scheme is open to all nationalities and can be renewed after the initial one-year period.
Who is eligible?
- Be employed with a company located outside the UAE
- Hold a work contract valid for at least 12 months
- Provide proof that the job can be performed remotely
- Earn a minimum monthly salary of approx. AED 12,856
What documents are required?
Applicants must prepare the following documents:
- Passport valid for at least six months
- Passport-sized colour photograph
- Proof of employment from a non-UAE employer or business ownership documents
- Salary certificate or proof of income (bank statements showing a minimum of US$3,500 per month)
- Health insurance policy valid in the UAE
- (Optional) Attested police clearance certificate from the country of origin
How to apply
- For residents planning to stay in Dubai: Apply through the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA)
- For residents planning to stay in other Emirates: Apply through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP)
Applications can be completed online via government portals, mobile apps, or smart services platforms. Physical presence in the UAE is not required at the time of application. Once approved, the applicant has 60 days to enter the UAE.
What does it cost?
The total cost for the visa is AED 350, broken down as:
- Application fee – AED 100
- Issuance fee – AED 100
- Smart services fee – AED 100
- Authority and e-services fee – AED 50
- Incomplete applications will be returned.
- If not corrected and resubmitted within 30 days, the application will be rejected.
- If the application is returned three times, it will be automatically cancelled.
