Malaysian authorities have introduced a new photograph-verification requirement for certain Employment Pass and Dependant Pass applications submitted through the MDEC and ESD systems

Malaysian authorities have introduced a new photograph-verification requirement for certain Employment Pass and Dependant Pass applications submitted through the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and Expatriate Services Division (ESD) systems, according to a report by Fragomen.

Under the new process, photographs submitted through MDEC for Employment Pass and related Dependant Pass applications must also be verified through the eVISA portal. The verification is completed instantly.

Applicants must ensure that their photographs match their passport and supporting documents and meet the eVISA/MyVisa specifications. Photographs that do not meet the requirements could delay the subsequent eVISA application.

The eVISA application can only be started after MDEC approves the underlying application.

The ESD has also introduced a similar photograph-verification process. However, applicants and employers can access the eVISA verification platform directly through a link provided within the ESD portal.

According to Fragomen, this integration is expected to provide a more seamless process for applicants and employers using the ESD system.
