If the physical card is lost, damaged, or under renewal, individuals must first report it to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP). As per a report by Gulf News, while a replacement is in process, residents can use digital alternatives for identification.
The digital Emirates ID is available at no cost and can be accessed in four ways:
1. Through apple wallet (for apple users)
Residents can add their Emirates ID to Apple Wallet using the UAEICP app. After logging in, the app provides an option to link the ID to Apple Wallet for quick and secure access.
2. Using the UAE pass app
Available for both Apple and Android devices, the UAE Pass app allows users to log in and view their Emirates ID under their personal profile. This national digital identity system is accepted across various government platforms.
3. UAEICP app (android and apple)
By logging into the UAEICP app with UAE Pass credentials, users can select the ‘Emirates ID’ section to view or download a PDF version of their ID. This can be used offline.
4. Generating a QR code via UAEICP app
If the Emirates ID is expired or pending issuance, a QR code can be generated for temporary verification. Users can do this through the UAEICP app by entering either their Emirates ID number or passport details. The QR code displays all necessary ID information and is accepted by government departments.
The digital options ensure uninterrupted access to services even when the physical Emirates ID is unavailable.
