Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has introduced a new digital service through the government’s unified 'Sahel' app, allowing citizens and residents to verify the status of domestic worker visas before starting recruitment. The tool is designed to prevent duplication, reduce application rejections, and improve transparency in a sector that remains sensitive in Kuwait.

The ministry said the service helps users check whether a visa has already been issued for the same worker, streamlining recruitment and reducing administrative inefficiencies.

Citizenship revocations continue

In a significant move, the Supreme Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Citizenship, chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al Yousef Saud Al Sabah, announced decisions to revoke citizenship in multiple cases, Gulf News reported. The committee cited fraud, false statements, and loss of citizenship certificates, adding that the cases will be submitted to the Cabinet for final approval. Citizenship withdrawals, often controversial, remain a sensitive issue in Kuwait.

Municipal enforcement and inspections
Kuwait Municipality has intensified monitoring of advertising licenses across all governorates. During inspections at a Hawally shopping mall, supervisor Bader Al Najdi reported that 32 shops were checked, nine were fined for unlicensed operations or expired permits, and monthly reports will be submitted to the Financial Affairs Department. Al Najdi emphasized ongoing strict enforcement to maintain public standards.

The legislative and administrative measures reflect Kuwait’s broader commitment to child protection, national identity, and governance transparency. Officials also highlighted plans to introduce a digital version of Kuwaiti citizenship to strengthen security and reduce fraud.
