Dubai issues advisory to residents and job seekers on fake work visa scams

Dubai Police have warned residents and job seekers against fake work visa scams, saying fraudsters are targeting people with false job offers and illegal visa promises. As per a report by Gulf News, the police urged the public to verify all employment offers only through official government channels and licensed recruitment agencies to avoid financial loss and legal trouble.

The warning was issued by the Anti-Fraud Centre at the General Department of Criminal Investigation as part of Dubai Police’s ongoing #BewareOfFraud campaign. Authorities said scammers often promise employment and visa sponsorship without any legal basis, misleading victims into making upfront payments.

Police said the only legal way to obtain a UAE work visa is through government-approved platforms or authorised recruitment offices. Job seekers were advised to check the authenticity of offers with relevant official authorities before sharing documents or paying any fees.


Dubai Police also cautioned people against individuals or unofficial groups claiming to provide “guaranteed” work visas outside the legal process. They said such claims are a common tactic used in fraud cases.

The police asked the public to report suspicious activity to help protect the wider community. Fraud and cybercrime cases can be reported through the Dubai Police smart app, the eCrime platform for online offences, or by calling 901 for non-emergency assistance.
