Dubai cuts work permit and residency visa processing time from 30 days to 5

The processing time to complete all necessary documents to acquire work permits and residency visas has been cut short from 30 days to five with the UAE government’s new “Work Bundle” platform.
The initial phase of this program has been rolled out in Dubai and will gradually be expanded to other Emirates.
The “Work Bundle” also improves the customer experience by providing one platform instead of five, it also reduces procedures from eight services to a unified single platform, while the required steps were reduced from 15 steps requiring 16 documents to five steps and five documents only, and reduced the number of visits from seven visits to only two visits, which in turn reflects on the time taken to complete the transaction, also reduced from 30 working days to five working days, according to Gulf News.

The services integrated under the Work Bundle platform include a unified platform for employment services, covering renewal, cancellation, medical examination, and fingerprinting. Initially available on the 'Invest in Dubai' website and mobile app, the platform is set to expand to various other government digital platforms and the 'Work in UAE' website.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said Work Bundle platform will “facilitate, simplify and shorten the procedures for residency and work (permits) in the country.”

“(The new Work Bundle platform) is set to reclaim 62 million working days previously devoted to the renewal of residencies and employment contracts within government frameworks. This project is expected to curtail 25 million procedures on an annual basis, thereby yielding substantial savings for both the governmental and private sectors,” he said.
Work Bundle integrates all procedures for government entities including the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, and Dubai Health.
What you need for a visa
- A job offer from a Canadian employer
- Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)to prove that there aren't any Canadians or permanent residents available for the position.
- Once you have a job offer and LMIA (if required), you can apply for a work permit that outlines the length of your stay, your employer, and nature of job.
- Depending on the nature of your work, you may be required to undergo a medical exam and provide a police certificate.
- Depending on the type of work you will be doing, you may need to demonstrate your English language proficiency through a language test.
