The world’s most popular travel destinations for 2026 have been revealed, based on millions of reviews and ratings, according to Tripadvisor's 'Best of the Best Destinations' rankings. Fewer than 1% of the platform’s eight million listings achieve the “Best of the Best” status, reserved for locations recognised for outstanding visitor experiences.

Bali leads the rankings

Indonesia’s Bali topped the list, praised for its beaches, coral reefs, and cultural experiences. Visitors can explore the lush jungles, visit stone temples, or attend workshops in Ubud, the island’s cultural hub. Activities like diving at WWII shipwrecks, yoga classes, and cooking lessons remain top attractions.

Other top global cities

European destinations also featured prominently. London drew attention for its mix of historic sites, markets, and dining experiences, while Paris offered classic sightseeing, art museums, and culinary tours. Rome was recognised for its historic piazzas, the Colosseum, and traditional Italian cuisine. Marrakech, Bangkok, and Istanbul made the list for their vibrant markets, cultural landmarks, and unique local experiences.


The awards also highlighted less conventional picks such as Crete, Maldives, Cusco, and Kathmandu, praised for their natural beauty, heritage sites, and adventure tourism. North American cities, including New York, provided a blend of iconic landmarks and offbeat cultural experiences.

Tripadvisor said the awards reflect destinations that consistently receive high-quality reviews, indicating they offer exceptional experiences for travellers. The ranking aims to guide tourists looking for top-rated locations and inspire travel planning for the year ahead.
