These are the 100 best cities for 2026; four Indian cities make it to the list

Four major Indian metros have secured positions in the global Top 100 of the 2026 World’s Best Cities Report, marking India’s strong presence in the annual international ranking, according to the list by Resonance Consultancy in partnership with Ipsos, that evaluated more than 270 global cities based on liveability, lovability and prosperity. London has taken the No. 1 spot for the 11th straight year.

Bengaluru is the top-ranked Indian city this year at 29th place, driven by its tech ecosystem and expanding corporate base. Mumbai follows at 40th, acknowledged for its role as India’s financial centre along with its contribution to jobs, cultural activity and innovation. Delhi is placed 54th, reflecting its influence in governance, infrastructure and connectivity. Hyderabad completes India’s presence in the Top 100 at 82nd, recognised for its growing technology and IT services footprint.

The report highlights London’s strong scores, first in prosperity, second in lovability and third in liveability. It states, “The ‘Capital of Capitals’ secures the top position in three of our 34 subcategories (the most of any city), and ranks 1, 2 and 3 in our Prosperity, Lovability and Livability indexes, respectively.” Tokyo (4th) and Singapore (6th) also feature in the top tier, driven by rising tourism, upgrades in access, and high standard-of-living indicators.
