Saudi Arabia launches unified helpline number for expired visa queries

Saudi Arabia has introduced a unified helpline number, 992, for visa-related queries as a relief window for expired visas nears its deadline of April 18, 2026. This offer is aimed at assisting stranded visitors who were unable to leave the country due to ongoing regional disruptions.

The General Directorate of Passports said individuals can call 992 to seek clarification on their visa status. The helpline covers all types of visit visas, including Umrah, transit and final exit visas, particularly those that expired on or before February 25, 2026.

Relief window and exit options

The announcement follows earlier directives issued by the Ministry of Interior under the Saudi leadership to address the situation of foreign nationals stranded in the Kingdom. Authorities had introduced measures to regularise the status of affected visa holders across categories.


Under these measures, expired visit visas are eligible for extension through the Absher platform after payment of prescribed fees. The extension window remains open until April 18, 2026. At the same time, visa holders who choose to leave the country can exit directly through international airports without extending their visas and without paying any penalties or late fines.

Officials said all affected individuals must act within the given timeline. Those who fail to either extend their visas or exit the country before the deadline will face action under existing regulations.

The authorities said the helpline aims to streamline communication and help visitors resolve queries as the compliance deadline approaches.
