Saudi Arabia has introduced new measures to streamline the departure of Umrah pilgrims and warned that those overstaying visas after the deadline will face penalties, according to the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

The ministry said pilgrims must leave the Kingdom before April 18 and urged them to coordinate with Umrah companies to confirm travel schedules, according to a report by Gulf News. It also asked pilgrims to complete accommodation check-out procedures, arrange timely transfers, and reach the airport at least four hours before departure.

The advisory comes as authorities step up monitoring ahead of the Hajj season, with a focus on ensuring timely exits of pilgrims.

Penalties for violations
Authorities said overstaying the visa deadline will lead to fines, imprisonment and deportation, as per the Gulf News report. The Ministry of Interior also warned citizens and residents against assisting violators.

The ministry said individuals who transport, employ, shelter or help pilgrims who overstay visas will face strict legal action. It added that Umrah service providers must report any cases of overstaying, or risk financial penalties.
