Indian travellers planning a trip to Bali and other parts of Indonesia can use the Visa on Arrival (VoA) facility, which allows short-term stays for tourism purposes. The visa permits entry for up to 30 days and can be extended once for an additional 30 days, making it a widely used option for Indian tourists visiting the country.

The facility is available at several Indonesian entry points, including Denpasar-Bali, Jakarta, Surabaya, Lombok, Medan, and other international airports. Travellers also have the option to apply for an electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VoA) in advance through the official online system, which helps speed up immigration clearance on arrival.

Indonesia offers this visa category to simplify travel for tourists and support short-term visits without the need for a prior embassy application in many cases.

Key entry requirements for Indian travellers

To apply for or obtain a Visa on Arrival, Indian travellers must meet basic entry conditions set by immigration authorities. A passport with at least six months’ validity from the date of arrival is mandatory. The passport should also have at least one unused page for entry and exit stamps.

Travellers must carry a confirmed return or onward journey ticket as proof of planned exit from Indonesia. In addition, they are required to show proof of sufficient funds to cover their stay in the country. These documents may be checked at the time of entry.

While not always required in advance, immigration officials may also ask travellers to provide basic travel details, including accommodation plans, during inspection.

The Visa on Arrival allows a stay of up to 30 days from the date of entry. This can be extended once for another 30 days while in Indonesia, giving travellers a maximum stay of 60 days under this category.
