The changes were introduced through Royal Oman Police Decision No. 109/2026, issued by Lt Gen Hassan bin Mohsin Al Shraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs. The amendments came into effect a day after they were published in the Official Gazette.

Under the new rules, the competent authority can issue a 14-day tourist visa at no cost to eligible nationals, subject to conditions set by the authorities.

Visitors can also convert the free visa into any other tourist visa category before it expires, provided they meet the applicable requirements and pay the required fees.

The amendments add the new visa category to Article 10 of the executive regulations and include it in the entry visa schedule under Article 29, where the visa fee has been fixed at zero Omani rials.

The Omani authorities have not yet released the list of eligible nationalities. They said the visa will be available only to citizens of countries identified by the competent authority.
