All applications for the Guardian Visitor Visa must be submitted through New Zealand’s enhanced Immigration Online system, from November 3, 2025. The change is aimed at simplify the application process and improve the overall experience for visa applicants.

Faster, clearer, and user-friendly
According to Immigration New Zealand (INZ), the upgraded system will provide a simpler, faster, and more user-friendly application process. Applicants can expect reduced waiting times, clearer updates on application statuses, and improved self-service features, helping families feel better informed and supported throughout the process. Updated guidance and support materials are included directly in the new online forms.

Transition for current applications
Applications saved as drafts or already submitted in the previous system can still be accessed and completed after November 3, 2025. INZ will notify applicants when the old system is set to close.


Parents applying for a Guardian Visitor Visa alongside a new student visa for their child are also required to use the enhanced system for both applications.
