Immigration New Zealand (INZ) has introduced a new tool to provide clearer information on visa processing times, aiming to help applicants better plan their travel, study, or work arrangements. The update, announced on March 18, 2026, covers a wider range of visa categories than before.

The tool offers an estimated decision date for applications based on submission timing and current average processing durations. INZ said, “Processing times are based on recently completed applications and will be updated regularly.” This feature allows applicants to track expectations for temporary, work, study, and residency visas.

The announcement follows recent travel disruptions linked to the Middle East situation, for which INZ has set up a priority phone line for affected temporary visa holders. Authorities have also warned that some visa services may be temporarily unavailable due to planned system upgrades throughout the year.

Applicants can access the new processing times tool online, along with options to compare visa categories, check the status of their applications, and find detailed guidance for study, work, and residence in New Zealand.
