The Philippines has extended visa relief for foreign nationals stranded due to disruptions linked to the Middle East conflict, allowing them to stay without penalties until May 1, 2026. The move applies to travellers whose authorised stay expired on February 28, according to an official order signed by Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida.

The order, identified as Department Order 219, was earlier set to expire on April 1 but has now been extended as many foreign nationals remain unable to secure return flights. “A number of foreign nationals remain stranded and have been unable to secure flights to return to their home countries. In light of this, the grant of visa relief is hereby extended until 01 May 2026,” the order stated.

The decision comes as flight disruptions continue across regions affected by the Middle East situation. Authorities said the extension ensures that stranded visitors do not face fines or legal issues due to overstaying.

Travel disruptions continue

The extension follows ongoing global travel disruptions linked to the situation in the Middle East, which accounts for about 14% of international air traffic, Gulf News reported.

Flight cancellations and limited availability have left many travellers stranded across regions.
