IndiGo will revise fuel charges on both international and domestic routes for all new bookings made from 00:01 hrs on April 2, 2026. The move follows a sharp rise in Air Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices, which have increased by over 130% in the region on a month-on-month basis, according to IATA’s Jet Fuel Monitor.

The airline said the revised charges will apply per sector and vary by route and distance. For international travel, passengers will see higher fuel charges depending on the destination, with Europe-bound routes attracting the highest increase.

The airline said the increase comes after ATF prices for international operations more than doubled in the past month, significantly raising operating costs. It added that “although fully offsetting the fuel price increase would require substantial fare revisions, IndiGo has passed on a relatively smaller amount to customers keeping in mind the consequential burden on them.”

On domestic routes, the government has stepped in to limit the impact. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and the Ministry of Civil Aviation allowed only a partial and staggered increase of 25% in fuel costs for airlines. IndiGo said this intervention helped reduce the burden on passengers.

IndiGo said, “IndiGo is thankful to the Government for timely intervention, without which April 2026 fuel cost increases would have severely impacted affordability of domestic air travel.”

The airline added that the changes were driven by a sudden rise in fuel prices and said it will continue to monitor the situation. “IndiGo regrets the inconvenience resulting from this fuel charge and reiterates that the measure has been driven by a sudden and substantial change in the operating environment,” it said.

The airline maintained that it remains committed to offering affordable and consistent travel even as it adjusts fares to manage rising costs.
