Czechia recorded double-digit growth in arrivals from India in 2025, with official hotel occupancy data showing a 12.38% increase over 2024. The figures highlight India’s growing role as a source market. While Prague remains a key entry point, more Indian travellers are now visiting regional destinations across the country.

The development reflects a shift in travel patterns, with visitors expanding their itineraries beyond the capital.

The tourism board said it will strengthen its monitoring system by adding data insights from online travel platforms such as Airbnb and Booking.com to gain a wider picture of Indian arrivals.

South Moravia gains traction

South Moravia is emerging as a preferred region among repeat travellers and small groups seeking experience-led trips. Known for vineyards, historic towns and cultural routes, the region offers easy access from Prague, making it suitable for short extensions of one to two days. This trend is helping distribute Indian tourist traffic across multiple regions.

“The Indian traveller today is more informed, more experiential, and more willing to explore beyond the obvious. Seeing growing interest in regions such as South Moravia reinforces our strategy of promoting Czechia as a multi-region destination. Our next phase will focus on curated regional experiences, wine and gastronomy trails, heritage circuits and short-stay extensions that encourage travellers to explore multiple regions within one journey," said Barbara Andelová, International Marketing Manager, New Markets at CzechTourism.

CzechTourism said it continues to expand its presence in India through trade partnerships, workshops across the country and focused promotion of regional experiences.

The reopening of the Czech Consulate in Mumbai is expected to support stronger travel demand and facilitate deeper engagement with Indian visitors.

With outbound travel from India rising in scale and spread across seasons, Czechia aims to position itself as a destination for extended travel across regions rather than a single-city stop.
