If you are planning on obtaining a short-term visa that will help you to enter the Schengen Area countries more than once, you should consider applying for a German Schengen visa, as this nation is your best chance of getting such a visa, according to a Schengen news report.

“Despite being the second most sought-after Schengen Area destination, Germany’s rates of multiple-entry visa issuance have remained high, as newly released Schengen Visa Statistics show that 90.4% of visas issued by the German consulates in 2023 were multiple-entry,” says the report.

This is only 0.2 percentage points lower than in 2022, when 90.6 per cent of short-term visas issued by Germany were for entering the Schengen Area more than once, Schengen.News reports.

In 2023, Germany approved 1,233,561 out of the 1,459,560 visa applications it received. Among the approved visas, 1,115,424 were granted as multiple entry visas.

Other countries with high issuance rates of multiple-entry visas
Apart from Germany, several other Schengen Area nations have higher issuance rates of multiple-entry visas than the EU average, according to 2023 data, says report.

Austria holds the second position after Germany, with 75.7 per cent of the visas it issued being multiple-entry visas. During the same period, Austrian consulates abroad processed 2,29,613 Schengen visa applications and approved 1,94,273 of them, with 1,47,021 being multiple-entry visas.

In 2022, Austria maintained a similar approval rate of 74.9 per cent out of 125,275 visas granted, albeit being ranked fourth.

Italy ranked third in terms of the proportion of multiple-entry visas (MEVs) granted in 2023, issuing such visas to 70.2 per cent of recipients, which amounted to 6,80,794 out of 9,70,073 visas granted.
