Within India, Goa recorded nearly 43 per cent year-on-year growth in accommodation searches, while Udaipur saw an increase of nearly 29 per cent.

Puri registered the highest growth among the domestic destinations highlighted, at 318 per cent, followed by Ooty at 166 per cent and Munnar at 107 per cent. Varanasi also recorded a 92 per cent increase in searches.

The figures point to interest across several types of domestic holidays, from coastal destinations and hill stations to heritage and spiritual locations.

Goa remains an option for beach holidays, while Udaipur offers heritage attractions. Puri's coastal setting and religious significance, along with the nature-focused experiences available in Ooty and Munnar, provide alternatives for travellers planning festive breaks within the country.

Gaurav Malik, Country Director, Indian Subcontinent & Indian Ocean Islands, Agoda, said: “The festive period has traditionally been when travel and celebration come together, but the destinations people are considering reveal that there are now various ways to spend this time. We are seeing interest span beach holidays, city breaks, cultural destinations and hill station escapes, suggesting that travellers are choosing destinations around the experience they want to have, rather than simply following a conventional itinerary. For Agoda, this also means helping people discover the right stay and experiences around increasingly diverse ways of travelling.”

Agoda offers accommodation, flights and activities through its website and mobile app. The platform lists more than six million holiday properties, over 130,000 flight routes and more than 300,000 activities worldwide.

The search figures reflect accommodation searches on Agoda during the specified period and do not necessarily represent confirmed bookings or actual visitor arrivals.
