Armenia will allow eligible Indian nationals to stay in the country without a visa for up to 180 days in 2026. The exemption will remain in force from January 1 to July 1, 2026, and applies to citizens of 113 countries, including India, who hold valid residence permits issued by the United States of America, European Union Member States, Schengen Area States, the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Kuwait, or the Sultanate of Oman.
Indian citizens who hold such residence permits can enter the Republic of Armenia without a visa and stay for up to 180 days within a one-year period. The residence permit must remain valid for at least six months from the date of entry into Armenia.
Apart from India, nationals of 112 other countries are also covered under the exemption. These include Canada, Israel, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Kenya, Egypt, Morocco, Mexico, Philippines, Thailand, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh’s neighbouring Bhutan, among others listed by the authorities. Citizens of these countries who hold valid residence permits issued by the specified jurisdictions and meet the stated conditions can also enter Armenia without a visa and stay for up to 180 days within a one-year period during the January 1 to July 1, 2026 window. Travellers must present the residence permit at the border either as a physical card or as a sticker placed in the passport.
Border authorities may recognise the residence permit if it contains, in Latin script, the title of the document, the foreign national’s given name, surname, nationality, date of birth, and the document validity period. The validity period must be indicated according to the Gregorian calendar, for example, 18.06.2027 or 18 JUN 2027.
The measure will apply during the six-month window in 2026 and will allow eligible Indian nationals to travel to Armenia without obtaining a visa in advance.
