The arrangement allows passengers to travel seamlessly to Tashkent from major Indian cities on a single ticket, with baggage checked through to the final destination. It also provides onward connections across Air India’s domestic and international network.
The partnership comes as Air India continues to strengthen its international network and improve access to destinations in Central Asia. Tashkent is seeing increasing demand from travellers across segments.
In addition to the codeshare, both airlines maintain an interline agreement, enabling further connectivity from Tashkent to cities such as Bukhara, Qarshi, Nukus, Urgench, Termez, Samarkand, Fergana, and Namangan.
“We are delighted to partner with Uzbekistan Airways as we continue to expand Air India’s global footprint. Tashkent is an increasingly important destination for leisure, business, and cultural travel, and this partnership allows us to offer our guests more choice and convenience while strengthening India’s air links with Central Asia,” Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer, Air India, said.
“The signing of the codeshare agreement between Uzbekistan Airways JSC and Air India opens a new chapter in the development of aviation cooperation between our countries. For us, this is a significant step in expanding our international route network and creating additional opportunities for our passengers. On behalf of Uzbekistan Airways JSC, I would like to express my gratitude to our partners at Air India for their trust and constructive cooperation. We anticipate that this agreement will serve as a solid foundation for the further development of our partnership and the implementation of new joint initiatives in the aviation industry,” Shukhrat Khudaykulov, Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airways, JSC, said.
The codeshare flights are available for booking through Air India’s website, mobile app, and travel agents.
Do you need a visa to visit Uzbekistan?
Indian passport holders need a visa to travel to Uzbekistan, but the process is relatively simple through the country’s e-visa system. Travellers are generally required to apply online before departure, as visa-on-arrival is not commonly available for Indians.
The e-visa allows a stay of up to 30 days and is typically valid for entry within 90 days from the date of issue. Applications are submitted through the official portal, and processing usually takes a few working days. Applicants need a valid passport, a photograph, and basic travel details such as accommodation and itinerary.
