Air India has expanded its European network by entering into a new codeshare agreement with Latvia’s national carrier airBaltic, making travel to the Baltic region easier for passengers flying from India. The airline announced the partnership on December 30, 2025, building on an interline arrangement between the two carriers that began in June this year.

Under the unilateral codeshare, Air India has started placing its ‘AI’ flight code on airBaltic-operated services between Riga and several major European cities where Air India operates. These include Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, Milan Malpensa, Vienna, Zurich, and London Gatwick. Passengers can now travel from India to Latvia with a single Air India ticket, even though the connecting leg to Riga is operated by airBaltic.

The agreement also extends Air India’s reach across the wider Baltic region. Through the existing interline partnership, travellers can connect to Tallinn in Estonia and Vilnius in Lithuania via selected Air India gateways in Europe.

Air India currently operates non-stop services from Delhi to several European cities, including Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, Milan, Vienna, and Zurich. The airline also flies from Mumbai to Frankfurt, and from Amritsar and Ahmedabad to London Gatwick. These routes now act as key connection points for onward travel to the Baltic region.

“This expanded partnership with airBaltic reflects Air India’s commitment to providing seamless global connectivity to our customers across the world. Latvia and the wider Baltic region are growing travel markets, but getting there for our customers was previously not as convenient as it now becomes with airBaltic on board with us,” said Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer of Air India.

Since its privatization in 2022, Air India has steadily expanded its global partnerships. The airline now has 24 codeshare agreements and close to 100 interline partnerships, giving its customers access to more than 800 destinations worldwide.

The newly added codeshare flights are open for booking through Air India, airBaltic, and travel agents globally.
