New passport with improved security features released
TIRUCHARIPALLI: A new version of the passport with a number of improved security features was lauched here today by Inspector General of Police (Central Zone) N.Ramasubramanian.


Passport applicants from Tiruchirapalli region will get the new version of the Passport from today.

S Balamurugan, Regional Passport officer said the new look passport with Letter Screen Image would ensure additional security. It was tamper proof, with the first, second and last two pages being laminated.

The passport holder's photo would be on the second page along with a shadow image. The signature and seal of the issuing authority would be on the first page and a seven-digit number would figure on the document, he said.

He said though the number of passports issued had gone up by 7,000 to 1.47 lakh pass ports last year and was all set to increase further and touch 1.60 lakh this year, productivity should be more,he said.
