Infosys in talks with US in visa row

In April last year, Infosys disclosed that the US Department of Homeland Security had found errors in a significant percentage of I-9 forms.

BANGALORE: The country's second largest software exporter Infosys, which is facing US government scrutiny into its compliance with visa rules, said it was discussing a settlement with the US Attorney’s office and other government departments. The company has made a provision of $35 million (Rs 219 core) for this, inclusive of legal costs.

"Infosys is engaged in discussions with the US Attorney's office and other government departments regarding a civil resolution of the government's investigation into the company's compliance with Form I-9 requirements and past use of B-1 visas," Infosys said in a statement following its second quarter results announcement.

In April last year, Infosys disclosed that the US Department of Homeland Security had found errors in a significant percentage of I-9 forms, used to verify the authorisation of employees to work in US.
