India to set up 7 more visa processing centers across Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: India will set up seven more visa processing centers across Malaysia after a new ruling that requires visa applicants to be present physically.

The new visa centers will be located in Ipoh, Kuala Terengganu, Kuantan, Malacca, Klang, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.

These outsourcing centres will be in addition to the three existing ones in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru, set up to capture biometric data for Malaysians travelling to India.

A spokesperson of the Indian High Commission to Malaysia said this was done to save people's time and costs in submitting their visa applications.

The system, which took effect on April 1, is applicable to all heading to India, for holidays or business.

Travel agents or other representatives, according to the Indian Visa Application Centre, are not allowed to submit applications on behalf of interested travellers.
