Government lowers threshhold salary for work visa to foreign faculty
NEW DELHI: The government has lowered minimum salary limit for grant of employment visa to foreign nationals engaged as faculty members at central higher educational institutions from Rs 16.25 lakh per annum to Rs 9.10 lakh per annum.

The information was provided by Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju in response to a written question in Lok Sabha.

"The minimum salary limit for grant of employment visa has been brought down from Rs 16.25 lakh per annum to Rs 9.10 lakh per annum in respect of foreign nationals engaged as teaching faculty at the level of Assistant Professors and above by central higher educational institutions such as IITs, NITs, IIMs and central universities only," Rijiju said.

The minister also specified that the said limit will be valid upto end of this year.
