The first thing you need to decide is what you actually want to study in Germany. Do a comprehensive research online, go through course catalogues and narrow down the course modules and universities that interest you.

Indian students who want to study in Germany for a Bachelor's degree must submit the following documents:

• Entrance Qualification
• Transcript of Grades
• Proof of Language Proficiency
• ID or Valid Passport Copies
• Letter of Motivation (Optional)

You will need to also keep in mind that while more and more courses conducted in English are being added, there are still very few undergraduate study programs in Germany offered in the English language.

Indian students who want to study in Germany for a Master's degree must submit the following documents:

• Recognized Bachelor Degree
• Transcript of Grades
• Proof of Language Proficiency (German or English)
• Motivation Letter
• Important References
• Work Experiences (Optional)

Entry requirements change from university to university and even from the type of course to the other, but here are the common ones you must meet.
1. Your previous education qualifications are the first documents you will need. But be careful. Not all foreign qualifications are recognized by the German education system.

If this is the case with you, the university will ask you to attend preparatory courses before you can begin the regular course work.

2. Language Proficiency: As an Indian student, you will need to submit scores of a standardized language proficiency test. Almost all undergraduate courses in Germany are offered in German. So in case you’re planning to attend such a course, you will have to learn German.

Postgraduate courses, on the other hand, have many study programs taught in English, including some which are delivered both in German and English at the same time.

3. Resume: Depending on the type and the academic level of your course, your resume may be required. The university will expect you to describe your skills important for the study field you’re applying for.

• Proof of Financial Resources (Indian students in German universities must have at least €861 per month or €10,332 per year in possession.)
