Top Business Schools 2026-27: Stanford stays on top, but IIM Bangalore makes a big move in Bloomberg MBA rankings

Stanford has now ranked No. 1 in the US for eight consecutive years. The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School came second, followed by Harvard Business School and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
The University of Virginia’s Darden School recorded the biggest rise among the top US schools, moving from 10th place last year to fifth.

Dartmouth’s Tuck School ranked sixth and the University of Chicago’s Booth School seventh. UC Berkeley’s Haas School dropped from third to eighth.
Cornell’s Johnson School and MIT’s Sloan School tied at ninth. Columbia Business School fell two places to 11th.

IIM Bangalore rises to No. 2 in Asia-Pacific
IIM Bangalore remained India’s highest-ranked programme in the Bloomberg ranking for the fifth consecutive year.Its Executive Post Graduate Programme moved up from third place in 2025 to second in the Asia-Pacific region. Shanghai University of Finance and Economics retained the top position.
IIM Bangalore’s overall score rose to 72.6 from 71.7 last year. The programme recorded gains in learning, networking and entrepreneurship, while ranking second in the region for compensation.
The ranking is significant for India as IIM Bangalore moved ahead of several established business schools in the Asia-Pacific region. It also highlights the growing presence of Indian management institutes in global MBA rankings.

Vanderbilt records major jump
Vanderbilt University’s Owen School rose 10 places to 17th in the US ranking. Yale School of Management climbed five places to share 12th with Michigan’s Ross School.Duke’s Fuqua School fell five places to 18th, while UNC’s Kenan-Flagler School rose eight places to 20th.
Bloomberg assessed schools on compensation, learning, networking and entrepreneurship. It removed the separate inclusion index from the US ranking this year and changed the weight assigned to the remaining categories.
The ranking combines feedback from students, alumni and corporate recruiters with employment and salary data.
In the Europe and Middle East category, Switzerland’s IMD reclaimed the top position. Ivey Business School returned to the top of the Canadian ranking.
