The School of Management and Business (HSB) at the Vietnam National University in Hanoi contends that the link between height and success is so crucial that individuals deemed "too short" should no longer be permitted to study there, as per a report by DW News.
The school declared that for admission this year, female students must be at least 1.58 meters tall and male students must be at least 1.65 meters tall, says the report.
It added that “exceptions could be allowed in some cases.”
Following a report by the Vietnamese online newspaper Tuoi Tre on the height requirements for admissions, the issue generated significant debate on social media.
“On June 6, the Ministry of Education instructed the university to reassess these criteria, leading the HSB to modify its admission standards,” says the DW report.
The height requirement was removed for three of the four undergraduate programs, now applying only to the Management and Security course.

HSB defends the selection criterion by stating its goal to educate future leaders and exceptional managers for both the public and private sectors, the report adds.
The school emphasized that suitability goes beyond technical skills, including physical attributes. Height, according to HSB, plays a crucial role, particularly in leadership and self-confidence.
