The University of Auckland continues to support Indian students with its India High Achievers Scholarship, offering up to $20,000 toward tuition fees. This scholarship is available to new international students from India enrolling full-time in undergraduate degrees, postgraduate diplomas, or master’s programmes at Waipapa Taumata Rau, the University of Auckland. Established in 2022, the scholarship aims to attract academically strong students from India and provide financial support during their studies.

A total of 30 scholarships are awarded each year, offered biannually to align with the university’s two main intakes. For Semester 1 or Quarters 1 & 2, applications opened on September 11, 2025 and closed on October 23, 2025.

For Semester 2 or Quarters 3 & 4, applications open on February 19, 2026 and close on April 2, 2026. Each scholarship covers tuition fees for one academic year.

Who can apply

The scholarship is open to new international students from India enrolling full-time at the university. Eligible programmes include undergraduate degrees, postgraduate diplomas, and master’s degrees that last one year or more. The scholarship is introduced to reduce the financial burden of international tuition fees while encouraging talented Indian students to study in New Zealand.

How to apply

Students must apply online, usually about six weeks before the closing date. The university advises applicants to read the scholarship regulations carefully to ensure eligibility. The AskAuckland online help centre is available to answer questions about the application process, required documents, and eligibility criteria. Applicants typically need to submit academic transcripts, proof of Indian nationality, and details of the programme they plan to enrol in.

Selected recipients will have the scholarship amount applied directly toward tuition fees. With only 30 awards available each year, students are encouraged to apply early and ensure that their applications are complete.
