Dubai is set to offer its first accredited Bachelor of Music programme, with SAE University College Dubai opening applications for a three-year full-time course from September 2026, Khaleej Times reported.

The programme comes as the UAE expands its cultural and creative industries, with a target for the sector to contribute 5 per cent of GDP by 2031. It will focus on contemporary and electronic music, covering songwriting, production, performance and music business.

Students will also study artist management, contracts, intellectual property, copyright, social media, marketing and creative business development.

The course will include practical training in professional-standard studios, live music projects and industry briefs. In the final year, students will work on industry projects and complete a major production project.

Artificial intelligence will also be included in the curriculum, with students learning about AI tools used in songwriting, production and audio engineering, along with copyright, ownership and originality.

The programme has been developed with industry partners including Melody House, Muzikminds and songwriter and music producer Miklos Malek.

SAE University College Dubai said the degree will be delivered through its international campus of SAE University College Australia. The Dubai campus is licensed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, and operates within the UAE’s higher education quality-assurance framework.

Applications are open for the September 2026 intake, with further intakes planned for February and May 2027. SAE is also offering scholarships and financial benefits of up to Dh50,000, subject to eligibility.
