The Australian Department of Home Affairs has advised prospective students planning to study in Australia in 2026 to submit complete student visa applications as early as possible to avoid delays. Officials said incomplete applications may be refused or take longer to process, particularly during peak periods.

Lodging a complete application means following the guidance in the Document Checklist Tool while submitting all required evidence through ImmiAccount, the department’s online visa portal. The Department emphasized that early submission can help applicants meet genuine student requirements and reduce processing issues.

To assist students, the Department has launched resources including the “Check twice, submit once” page and an updated Document Checklist Tool. These guides help applicants ensure that all documents meet visa criteria before submission.

Officials highlighted that applications received during busy periods may experience delays, making it essential for students to lodge early and complete.

The Department of Home Affairs has also recently introduced website translation services for a limited number of pages, providing a language selector at the top right corner of translated pages to help international applicants navigate the portal more easily.
