MUMBAI: Dr Ranjana Advani has become the first Indian woman to receive the ' Saul Rosenberg MD Professorship in Lymphoma".

The honour was bestowed on the alumnus of TN Medical College and Nair Hospital, Bombay University, at a special event organised here by the Dean of the Stanford University School of Medicine last month, a release said.

Endowed fellowships - or endowed chairs - represent one of the highest honours a University can bestow upon a faculty member, it said.

The fellowships are given to esteemed faculty members to honour their past achievements and potential future contributions, and provide ongoing support for the faculty member's work, according to the release.

Nominations to chairs are approved by the Provost of the University and reviewed by the Board of Trustees, the release said.
