The wait time for a visa appointment for Germany has signicantly reduced since last year, with an applicant having to wait for a maximum of five days.

Germany's Ambassador to India, Philipp Ackermann, expressed pride in the expedited visa services now available for Indian citizens, highlighting the improvement in visa processing times, and emphasizing that visas are now issued in a remarkably short duration.

"We have in the last couple of weeks and months improved the visa service as such, that basically, your waiting time for an appointment is between two days and five days, actually," Ackermann told ANI.

"And that's India-wise. So basically, we are very proud that now with the current service, we are extending to the Indian public, visas can be issued in a very short time, much better than a year ago. And I think we'll crack this year... I'm very happy to tell you that on the visa front, things are much better than they were," he added.

Germany has been facing a significant deficit in its workforce, particularly in areas like IT, technology, medical care, contracting, and logistics. In response, employers are turning to foreign skilled professionals to address these shortages. To tackle this issue, the German parliament, the Bundestag, last month launched the first part of a revised Skilled Immigration Act.
