Saudi Arabia has extended the grace period for individuals holding expired visit visas by an additional 30 days, allowing them to exit the country legally without incurring extra penalties. The announcement was made by the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) in a statement posted on X.

The extension takes effect from Saturday, July 26, 2025, under the Gregorian calendar. This is applicable to all types of visit visas that have expired.

What does the extension mean?

The extension grants visitors with expired visas more time to leave Saudi Arabia without facing legal consequences, provided they settle all applicable fines and fees in accordance with existing regulations.

Jawazat first introduced this initiative in June 2025, in line with the beginning of the Hijri New Year.

How can applicants apply?

To benefit from the grace period, eligible visitors must:

  • Pay all outstanding fines and visa-related charges
  • Submit a formal request through the Tawasul service on the Ministry of Interior’s Absher platform
  • This process must be completed within the specified window to ensure compliance.

Authorities urge timely action

Saudi authorities have called on all visitors with expired visas to take advantage of the extension and complete their exit procedures on time. Failure to do so may lead to legal action or further penalties.

Saudi Arabia issues various types of visit visas, including family, business, and tourist categories. Overstaying these visas is considered a violation under Saudi residency and travel regulations. The grace period offers a legal route to exit for those who missed the expiry deadline, especially during periods of religious or seasonal travel.
