Poland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that starting June 1, 2024, the fee for a national visa application (D-type) and the fee for reconsideration of a national visa application has increased from €80 to €135.

This adjustment results from the new regulation on consular fees, effective May 21, 2024, as published in the Journal of Laws of 2024, item 774.

"Poland has been experiencing consistent raise of the migration pressure; therefore it is of great importance that foreigners entering the territory of the Republic of Poland fulfill the declared purpose of stay," the ministry said in a

The Schengen (C-type) visa application fee and the fee for reconsideration of a Schengen visa application will remain unchanged for now, the ministry has said.

The increased visa fees aim to improve the availability of slots for foreigners applying for a Polish national visa for the first time. This change also coincides with potential discussions among Schengen States to increase the Schengen visa fee from €80 to €90 in 2024, driven by rising administrative service costs in visa processing.

"The new national visa fee is expected to result in decreased number of applicants whose actual purpose of stay in Poland differs from the declared one," the ministry said.

Poland is experiencing a steady rise in migration pressure, making it crucial for foreigners to adhere to the declared purpose of their stay. The new national visa fee is expected to decrease the number of applicants whose actual purpose of stay in Poland differs from the declared one.

The difference between Schengen and national visa fees is justified by the broader range of privileges associated with the national visa, which includes a longer period of stay and the ability to travel within the Schengen area.
