India to launch Passport Seva 2.0 for NRIs in Dubai from October 28
The Consulate General of India in Dubai has announced the launch of the upgraded Passport Seva Programme (GPSP 2.0), which will come into effect from October 28, 2025, for all passport-related services.

Under this system, applicants must use the newly launched online portal, to register and apply for passport services. The introduction of this service aims to simplify the application process and reduce waiting times at service centres.

E-passports to enhance security and efficiency

A key feature of GPSP 2.0 is the introduction of e-passports, embedded with a secure chip containing digitised holder data. This technology will facilitate faster and smoother immigration clearances, aligning India’s passport services with international standards.

Applicants will also have the option to upload their ICAO-compliant photograph, signature, and supporting documents directly on the portal. This feature is expected to reduce processing time at BLS International Centres, where physical verification will continue.

The Consulate advised applicants to refer to the ICAO photograph guidelines available on its official website.

Application process

To access these services, users must register on the portal, log in, generate a new application, print the form, and book an appointment through BLS International.

The Consulate said that the upgrade is part of India’s efforts to modernise and digitise consular services for its large diaspora in the UAE.

Along with this, minor corrections in applications can now be made by service providers directly at their end without requiring applicants to retype forms or pay additional charges.
