Canada has relaxed PR eligibility rules under Express Entry for these students
IRCC has asked candidates to update their Express Entry profile by August 2 to ensure they have the best possible chance to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the next Express Entry draw.

Students enrolled in Canadian universities, who were forced to complete their courses online because of the pandemic will now be eligible for Canadian educational credential points.
In the regular course, online education does not count for Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points if more than 50% of the program was completed through distance learning.
This temporary relaxation will only be valid for students who have completed their programs online between March 2020 and August 2022, the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has said.
Candidates may now be eligible for CRS points even if the program was either...
- completed online
- from outside Canada
- through part-time studies
