India continues to be the leading source of immigration for Canada. More than 118,000 Indians were granted "permanent resident", or PR, status last year, which was 27% of total PRs issued. For Indian students, it was the second most sought-after country.

Indian students are the largest international student group in Canada, accounting for 20% of all international students in 2021.
Over 319,000 Indian students are enrolled in Canadian institutions, making them the largest international student cohort in Canada, according to Global Trade Research Initiative.
