According to the Department of Home Affairs, people in Australia with expired visas or Bridging Visa E can now request a confidential appointment through a new online booking form. This allows them to connect directly with a Status Resolution Officer (SRO) to receive accurate information about their immigration options.
The department said the SROs work independently from the Australian Border Force and are responsible for helping individuals understand their situation, explore lawful pathways, and make informed decisions about their future in Australia.
As per the official announcement, the program provides a “safe and voluntary way” to resolve immigration matters without enforcement pressure. “Our team are here to provide a safe, voluntary way for people to resolve their immigration status and regain peace of mind,” the department said.
The new service is part of ongoing efforts to improve visa compliance and reduce the number of people living unlawfully in the country by supporting voluntary resolution over enforcement action.
The new online booking tool is now live on the Department of Home Affairs website, enabling users to schedule appointments at their convenience.
