In a message played at naturalization ceremonies across the United States, President Donald Trump has urged newly naturalized citizens to “fiercely guard” the American way of life. The announcement came on June 10, 2025, through a video released by The White House.

The video features President Trump welcoming new citizens into what he calls the country’s “national family.” He emphasizes that US citizenship is not only a matter of pride but a “sacred honor” that comes with serious responsibility. “You now share a home and heritage with some of the most exceptional heroes and patriots ever to walk the face of the Earth,” he says in the address.

The video will be shown at all naturalization ceremonies, where immigrants officially become US citizens after meeting legal requirements such as lawful residency, English proficiency, and allegiance to the US Constitution.

Trump also called upon new Americans to cherish and defend the country’s founding ideals. “You must fiercely guard this magnificent inheritance and uphold its values,” he said. He noted that citizenship demands loyalty, commitment, and love for the United States.

The message reflects Trump’s continued emphasis on patriotism and cultural assimilation as core pillars of US citizenship, a stance consistent with his broader immigration policy.
