Train services connecting Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) have been suspended following a strike, prompting transport authorities to issue travel advisories for passengers heading to LaGuardia Airport.

LaGuardia Airport said passengers should plan additional travel time and use alternative public transport options due to the disruption. The advisory was issued after the strike impacted LIRR operations, affecting regular commuter movement to and from New York City.

Passengers advised to use alternate transportation

In a post on X, LaGuardia Airport stated that travellers can use subway lines including the E, F, M, R and 7 trains, along with the M60 Select Bus Service and the free Q70 LaGuardia Link bus to reach the airport.

The airport also stated that the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) will run limited shuttle bus services between Long Island and New York City on weekdays during peak hours. These services are intended for essential workers and passengers who are unable to work remotely.

Authorities have advised passengers to check updates before travelling and allow extra time for airport transfers as services remain affected.
